The Problem Identified
Where humans are involved, there will be risk of human error. Dropped objects unfortunately are a common occurrence throughout worksites, coming at a cost of serious injury or death.
In Australia, 9% of workplace fatalities in 2022 were due to being hit by a falling object. According to Safe Work Australia, that converts to 16 deaths from dropped object incidents, each incident costing $23 million in compensation.
Personnel safety is the priority, whilst the integrity of equipment, reputation of the company and its financial performance are also impacted.
